Every week, on a Thursday night, I will be hosting the Word of the Week. There will be no polls to vote for a word, Kelpie will simply pull one out of her ass. This week's Word of the Week is: 'What' Otherwise known as Kelpie's favorite and most used word Language: English Translations: Spanish; qué, German; was (für), Arabic; ماذا، أي Origins: Unknown Uses: pronoun, noun, adjective, adverb, interjection, conjunction, idiom My definition: 'What' can take on many forms, but somehow everyone knows what it means. 'What' takes on forms such as being a noun, a pronoun, an adverb, and even a conjunction. Kelpie's favorite form of 'What' is when 'What' is used as an Idiom. (i.e. What? or Say what?) Dictionary.com's definition: "—Idioms 25. but what, Informal. but that; but who; who or that … not: Who knows but what the sun may still shine. 26. Say what? Slang. (used esp. among teenagers) What's that you say? Would you repeat that? 27. So what? Informal. (an expression of disinterest, disinclination, or contempt.)"
